Under a shining sun and in front of a cheering audience, the canoeists competed to the fullest on Friday in the canoeing championships, which this year are organized in Nyköping. The Swedish Championship has been going on since Tuesday and ends on Sunday.

– It’s great that it’s here. That so many people come, says Conny Edholm, who is the race leader for the Canoe Championship in Nyköping.

Isak Näsman is competing in the SM week for the first time.

– It’s a lot of fun, he says.

Turning 90 years old

At the same time as the Canoe Championship is being held, Nyköping’s Canoe Club has recently turned 90 years old.

In the same vein, the canoe stadium has also changed its name to Gert Fredriksson arena, and at the opening, six Olympians were present for the naming ceremony.
