Polish Deputy Minister of Defense made statements about the violation of Polish airspace by Belarus.
“THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE SITUATION”
Polish Deputy Defense Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz suggested yesterday that the violation of Polish airspace by two Belarusian military helicopters was a provocation targeting Warsaw and NATO’s eastern flank.
Speaking to the Polish state radio, Skurkiewicz reminded that two Belarusian helicopters violated Polish airspace in the Bialowieza region.
Stating that Warsaw informed the NATO headquarters of the incident, Skurkiewicz stated that the Polish National Security and Defense Affairs Committee met yesterday.
Wojciech Skurkiewicz underlined that as a result of this meeting, it was decided to increase the number of soldiers on the Belarusian border and to send additional military helicopters to the region.
Emphasizing that the Polish government absolutely does not consent to such “provocations”, Skurkiewicz said:
“This is a provocation targeting Warsaw and NATO’s eastern flank. These are situations that should definitely not happen, but we are aware of who our competitors are beyond our eastern border. This is an absolutely unsafe situation. If such situations do happen and escalate, then our actions are potentially would be appropriate to threats.” (AA)
