In the past few weeks the… Batman Epic Crime Saga expanded to include their first spin-off series. The DC Universe founded by The Batman in 2022 is still quite young and manageable. After the eight episodes of the first season of The Penguin, one thing is clear: there are still a lot of exciting stories to tell here.
But will we see a second season of The Penguin? At least the finale puts the villain played by Colin Farrell in a promising position for further detours into the crime-infested streets of Gotham. It’s impossible that it’s over here. What are the plans for the Batman Epic Crime Saga?
Is The Penguin season 2 coming?
Very likely not. The Penguin became conceived as a miniseries. Even before the start, series creator Lauren LeFranc and The Batman director Matt Reeves made it clear that they saw the eight episodes of the crime drama as a bridge before the next big film continued the story.
Will the Penguin return in The Batman Part II?
The action of The Penguin begins a week after the events of The Batman… and ends a few weeks before the events of The Batman Part II. After the Batman Epic Crime Saga began on Halloween, we slowly but surely find ourselves in the winter months, as mentioned several times in the series.
The Batman Part II is also set in the icy season, as Reeves recently revealed, so Farrell’s DC villain can waddle through the snow like Danny DeVito’s version in Burton’s Batman Returns. The Batman, The Penguin and The Batman Part II flow directly into each other. The penguin is definitely returning.
When does The Batman Part II start in cinemas?
Unfortunately we have to be patient for a while. Only on October 1, 2026 Robert Pattinson returns to the big screen as the dark knight. In addition to Pattinson and Farrell, Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon) and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth) are also returning – these are the official plans for the future of the Batman Epic Crime Saga.
It is noticeable that there is still no update on the fate of two of the most important characters from The Batman and The Penguin: Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) and Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti). However, especially after the latest developments, it is certain that we will see them both again sooner or later.
And now what about the Joker and his series?
To do this, we have to take a look into the rumor mill. As scooper Jeff Sneider notes in his newsletter, the next spin-off series could revolve around the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, who we saw for a very brief moment in a cell at Arkham State Hospital at the end of The Batman.
Apparently the plan is to build up the Joker as a major antagonist, similar to the Penguin, with his own series. This series would then be located between The Batman Part II and The Batman Part III. Keoghan’s Joker would only become the main villain in part 3 and not in part 2, as many fans hope.
