Thousands of people in the Los Angeles region of the US state of California were captured by the fire that grew with strong winds. While many people lost their homes, 25 people lost their lives in the disaster.
IT STARTED AGAIN!
Authorities in Los Angeles announced that a new fire broke out around Castaic Lake and partial evacuations have begun. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced that the size of the fire covered an area of 500 acres.
In the fire that covered an area of more than 3 thousand hectares, more than 50 thousand people in the region received evacuation orders or warnings.
EVACUATION TO PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PRISON
Authorities stated that it was decided to evacuate a primary school and prison in the region due to the fire, and that some highways in the region were temporarily closed to traffic.
LANDSLIDE IS EXPECTED
In the statement made by the National Weather Service, it was stated that rain is expected in the region over the weekend, but this will not be enough to extinguish the ongoing fires, and there is a risk of landslides, although low.
VERY CLOSE TO BEING UNDER CONTROL
“The situation we are in is very different from what it was 16 days ago,” Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said. “The interventions are more likely to be successful,” he said.
Of the fires that started in 6 different areas in Los Angeles more than two weeks ago, it was reported that 70 percent of the fires in the Palisades region and 95 percent of the fires in Eaton were under control as of today.
