In The Mother, Lopez plays a killer who quits her job to protect her unborn child. She even keeps her distance from her daughter for years so as not to endanger her. Eventually her child is threatened by her ex-clients and she takes up arms again.
The result received mixed reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ and audiences’ ratings differ greatly, at 43% and 89%. The action hit has 52 points on Metacritic.
