The extension has not yet been officially announced. Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally announced as a miniseries. However, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed to Entertainment Tonight that one Extension of the series possible is – an important signal for the season 2 order.

Well, frankly, we wanted to [Obi-Wan Kenobi] make it a miniseries. But I think if it’s for [Staffel 2] there’s a lot of excitement and people really want to see more of Obi-Wan, we’ll certainly take that into account […]. Prior to the launch of Obi-Wan Kenobi, lead actor Ewan McGregor revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he would be there immediately for a second season: “Yes, I would like another one [Staffel] make.” After the release of the first episodes, McGregor confirmed his desire in an interview with British GQ.

I really hope we have one [2. Staffel von Obi-Wan Kenobi] can do. If I now and then [eine Staffel dieser Serie] could do – I would be very happy about that.

It even sounds like McGregor wouldn’t even mind returning in a 3rd or 4th season as well. Also Hayden Christensen, who appears in Obi-Wan Kenobi as Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader, is also not averse to the ideaas he revealed to Radio Times on the release of the series.

[Obi-Wan Kenobi] was designed as a standalone story. But I’d love to expand on this character. There is certainly much more to discover and it would be very exciting to do so. I would definitely be open to [in der 2. Staffel von Obi-Wan Kenobi] to play along

Should Obi-Wan Kenobi not get a direct sequel, Christensen wouldn’t mind a prequel series starring Anakin Skywalker or a Spin off with Darth Vader to object, as he explained to the Hollywood Reporter in June 2022.

Darth Vader in Obi Wan Kenobi

When we asked director Deborah Chow about Season 2 in our Obi-Wan Kenobi interview, she also expressed interest.

We designed Obi-Wan Kenobi as one big story – with a clear beginning, middle and end. But there is more. As we were writing the series, there were so many possibilities that we could have explored.

Chow has no doubt that Obi-Wan’s story is not yet complete.

I’m sure there’s always more to tell. Obi-Wan is a great character and Ewan [McGregor] is just so good in the role. I would watch anything he does in the future in the Star Wars universe. He could also just ride his Eopie through the sand and it would be awesome.

Star Wars: What is Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 About?

Obi-Wan and his Eopie – this raises the question of what the second season of the series could be about. Starting from the last episode offer yourself two major storylines on. On the one hand, Moses Ingrams Reva has turned his back on the Empire and the Inquisition and now faces an uncertain future.

Qui Gon Jinn in Obi Wan Kenobi

On the other hand, Obi-Wan has finally managed to get in touch with his old master. In the final seconds of the series Qui-Gon Jinn appears to his former padawan as a power spirit and asks him: “Come with me. We have a long way to go.” It almost sounds like Liam Neeson is ordering season 2 straight away.

Only Darth Vader doesn’t really fit into the picture. Although defeated again by Obi-Wan, he gives in in the end the will of the Emperor. Also, the recent battle between Vader and Obi-Wan is written in such a way that the characters’ reunion in Star Wars can easily build on it. Another encounter would complicate matters (again).
