Before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the idea of flying with a protective mask was unimaginable. However, as the severity of Covid-19 increased, the use of masks became mandatory. But now, one airline is returning to the pre-pandemic days.
British airline Jet2 announced that it has lifted the obligation to wear masks from its passengers from the UK and Northern Ireland. Professor Gurch Randhawa, director of the Health Research Institute at the University of Bedfordshire, said in an interview after this decision, “With an airborne virus like Covid-19, and with many parts of the world still unvaccinated, we must accept that there will be variants and fluctuations in the future. Therefore, we need to ensure that we maintain a solid defense strategy against Covid-19, such as surveillance, vaccines, testing, ventilation, masking and developing Covid-19 treatments.” said.
