Why do you celebrate the twenty-day knot?

Tjugondag knot is named after the Danish prince Knut Lavardwho after his death in 1131 was canonized, according to The Nordic Museum.

Twentieth day knot marks the end of Christmas. According to tradition, this is when you take down the Christmas decorations and throw out the Christmas tree.

The day is often associated with Christmas tree looting, a tradition from the 19th century that lives on today.
