Tensions between Iran and Pakistan peaked this morning. Iran announced that 9 people, including 3 women and 4 children, lost their lives in the missile attack carried out by Pakistan on a village in the border region this morning. Recently, after Iran’s attack on Erbil, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statements that such attacks would “turn into a huge vortex” brought to everyone’s mind the risk of the war spreading to the Middle East.
Habertürk TV Security Policies Coordinator Çetiner Çetin and Independent Turkish Editor-in-Chief Nevzat Çiçek discussed the issue in detail on Habertürk.
What is the ultimate goal? There were also allegations that Iran was behind the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
“IT MAY TURN INTO A Sectarian Conflict”
Regarding the spread of conflicts in the region, Çiçek said, “The Baluchistan problem in Iran is not a new problem. They already had a problem between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. In the statements of Iranian officials, we see that the security doctrine has obviously been changed. The question that should be asked is why Iran changed its security doctrine now.” ?
The rise in tension in Iran and surrounding countries and its evolution into a war situation helps conceal Israel’s massacres in Gaza.
When I met with Pakistani officials, the answer I received was, ‘The dominant powers want to spread the war in the Middle East towards this region.’
If this issue continues, a sectarian conflict may arise.
“A war that Iran starts with the Taliban in the region would benefit Israel,” he said.
“WORLD TRADE IS AT RISK, 40 PERCENT INCREASE MAY COME”
Çetin stated that the aggressive attitude of the Houthis in the Red Sea could have significant effects on world trade and said, “Iran and Israel have been supporting each other politically since 1979. New governments in both countries threaten to shoot each other, but no one has shot each other for 40 years.”
In Yemen, Iran tried to show the world the existence of the Houthis. Currently, the Houthis are making moves that threaten trade all over the world. There will be an increase of over 40 percent in all commodities in the coming period. But the real issue is that if this situation continues, the Houthis will begin to interfere with the Shiite population in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s entire oil pipeline is near the Yemen border.
As for the Pakistan and Afghanistan aspects of the issue, we need to look at the USA’s plans in Afghanistan. Before withdrawing from the region, the USA left the Taliban and all their weapons in the region. The public interpreted the USA as ‘scared and running away’. But it is not like that.
Until now, Iran has been a country that exported terrorism to the world. Wasn’t it Iran that fed the PKK in Qandil today? Or wasn’t it Iran that brought about the existence of the PKK in Syria? Iran is not standing still. “He is trying to impose his political situation on everyone.”
Will this make the war bigger?
Regarding the risk of the fierce war spreading, he said, “Iran itself attacked Pakistan. Iran is trying to mobilize the Shiite population in Pakistan here. If Iran were that brave, it would attack the US’s Harir bases, 20km away from Qandil. Which nerve endings should Iran try to touch?” “He knows very well. Iran is trying to spread terror around itself directly with its own power, it used to do this with its paramilitary organizations. There is an election in the coming days. These events are being used to suppress its own base in this election.” he said.
