Is Dear Child Season 2 coming? The author has written 2 other books that Netflix can make into films

The new Netflix series Dear Child is a resounding success as a German original. The kidnapping thriller landed in the first week Number 1 of the most watched non-English language Netflix series and generated over 10 million views internationally.

With just six episodes, the adaptation of Romy Hausmann’s bestselling novel of the same name delivers an exciting and entertaining binge. Many fans want more. But can Netflix even give Dear Child a second season?

Netflix thriller: Will there be a second season of Dear Child?

The end of Dear Child is definitive and concludes the adaptation of the novel. Netflix itself describes Dear Child as a miniseries. There probably won’t be another season. Although many viewers would certainly like to find out whether little Hannah (Naila Schuberth) could become a psychopath herself in the future after her experiences.

Of course, another season isn’t completely out of the question. If Netflix really wants to continue the series, an anthology approach would be possible. This means that completely new kidnapping cases with new characters could be discussed in further seasons. But that would have nothing to do with Romy Hausmann’s original book. Another option: Netflix could film two of the author’s other thriller novels as a sequel to Dear Child.

Thriller author already has more Netflix series after Dear Child

After her thriller debut, Dear Child, Romy Hausmann published the novel a year later Martha is sleeping out of here. It’s about the law firm employee Nadja, who is said to have killed her mother Marta 20 years ago. When her former colleague Laura commits a murder, Nadja has to help her cover up the crime. She does this for the benefit of Laura’s four-year-old daughter.

It’s not just Marta Sleeps that offers an exciting template for a follow-up series to Dear Child. In 2022, Romy brought Hausmann with her Perfect day another thriller out. Again it’s about kidnapping.

At the center of Perfect Day is a gruesome series of murders. Young girls have been kidnapped and killed for 14 years. The only trace is red ribbons that are left at the crime scene every time. One day Professor Walter Lesniak will be accused of the horrors. His daughter wants to prove the guilt of “Professor Tod”.
