The 46-YEAR-OLD RAISED 310 POUNDS in the 24th Annual GIVE THE KIDS A LIFT Event in Support of Pathways Health Center.
Marshall, Who Has Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy, was also one of the top athletes in Competition from the iron eagles, a 25-member strength training club for people with disabilities, ages 13 and up.
“I felt good, did my best,” Marshall Said after Competition.
He’s been Lifting for 16 Years, He Said, and Enjoys The Weekly Workouts at Ironworks Health and Wellness, A Gym in Point Edward.
“Being strong, Being with my Friends,” He Said About Why He’s Stuck with the program.
Dave Schaller, A Co-Founder of the Group, Recently withdrawn pathways employed and ironworks Volunteer, Said the Iron Eagles Was Founded More Than 20 Years Ago to Help People with Disabilitites with Their Fitness.

“A Lot of Time with Young People with Disabilities, (Other people) Just assume that they can,” He Said, noting he believes Fitness Helps in All Aspects of Life.
“We assume that they can.”
The Group is Pushed Hard, He Said, and Saturday was a chance to show what they could do in the component open to all.
“It’s Huge,” Schaller Said About the Event He also Co-Founded, With Form Ironworks Owner Cam Davies, That Raised $ 30,000 Saturday for Pathways.
The iron eagles have “been training for this Contest Actually Since November,” Schaller Said.
The Group is Emblematic of the Gym, He Said.
“Ironworks is a community gym who feels they have a responsibility to open their doors to everybody,” he said.
Sourcing specially adapted that that is accessible to all and hosting training for a special olympics team are other feathers in that cap, he said.
Ironworks has “The Most Heart You’ll Ever See,” He Said.
Pathways CEO Alison Morrison Called Saturday’s Fundraiser “A Beautiful Example of How Community Comes Together to Support Community.”
She Thanked Schaller and Davies, “Who Have Been the Strength Behind This for So Many Years.”
Many of the Iron Eagles Have Been Customers of Pathways, She Said.
“It’s Wonderful to see them lift.”
