The ASM plant, the first and only one in Italy by type and technology, strengthens the Group’s leadership in recycling and recovery of materials: the plant recover waste wood (old furniture, boxes, baskets, etc.), safeguarding 115,000 trees every year), and foresees up to ten production lines for the production of 100% circular pallets and pallet blocks. The plant extends for one area of 50 thousand square metersemploying 40 direct employees, in addition to those associated with related industries, and is able to process 110,000 tons/year of wood waste to produce each year up to a maximum of 750,000 pallets and about 135,000 cubic meters of pallet blocks.
The wood waste, coming from differentiated collection and industrial collection, is shredded and refined, also to allow the elimination of any metal parts that may be present, such as nails or staples, and then cleaned, ground and shredded, before moving on to the drying. The following phase is the resin treatment, which allows the product to be given shape (the molding press that makes the pallets and pallet blocks intended for companies in the logistics sector).
High safety standards characterize all phases of the production processes, which largely comply with the emission thresholds foreseen, thanks to the use of a complex system of filters. For further environmental mitigation, within the plant area have been 200 trees and around 2,000 hedges planted. Finally, Circular Wood it also houses an educational area open to schools and visits by citizens, which will be dedicated to courses and moments of training and awareness dedicated to the conscious use of resources.
