(Finance) – Improvement in inventory accuracy, in the use of physical spaces and in the traceability of materials, optimization of management and reordering policies: these are some of the salient aspects of the Iren Logistics Technological Transformation Project, multi-utility which operates in the sectors of electricity, gas, district heating, environmental services, integrated water services and renewables. The project, launched in September 2021 and lasting two years, it is part of the ambitious Logistics 5.0 Program, which envisages the transformation of the operating and organizational model that Iren has designed to make its logistics chain increasingly efficient in order to face the new challenges of the market.
The value of the solution proposed by the RTI constituted by Lutech Group and Spindox lies in the technological choices, which see Infor® WMS at the center, and in the proven ability of the two companies to govern complex, interdisciplinary and innovative initiatives.
The heart of the supply chain management project is a solution that Lutech has developed based on CloudSuite™ technology WMS by Infor, of which the Lutech Group is a partner, which consists of an automated warehouse management system with a global and complete process visualization model: cross docking, multi-sequence storage, wave management, BPM workflow, to name just a few some, as well as 3D warehouse visualization to optimize operations and integrated labor management.
The monitoring of the real needs of the materials, in addition to reducing the waste of resources, is of course also crucial for optimizing the decisive interventions and therefore improving customer satisfaction, reducing the working capital. Achievable goals thanks to Ublique©, the decision intelligence platform of Spindox, which supports the management of decision-making flows in highly complex contexts, thanks to the integration of numerous analytical models and artificial intelligence techniques (mathematical optimization, machine learning, dynamic simulation).
Of particular relevance, within the technological infrastructure, the innovative “Pick&Go” process collection of material by Iren Group operators when warehouse personnel are not present. Agile solutions have been designed and are being implemented that allow for the rapid picking of outgoing materials through an automatic exit or by scanning the QR codes affixed to the shelves.
“Logistics functions have never been so strategic as in this period of very rapid transformations that the global economy is experiencing, even in the multi-utility sector – he declares Vito Gurieri, Director of Procurement, Logistics and Services of the Iren Group.- In increasingly volatile and uncertain markets essentially due to the post-pandemic and the global geopolitical situation, there is an increasing need to adopt digital processes based on data sharing, today more than ever fulcrum for managing future challenges. Topics such as economic, environmental and social sustainability are establishing themselves with ever greater strength, also determining an evolution of corporate organisations, processes and skills.”
“The logistics process digitization project – he declares Emilio Vandelli, Industry Leader Energy & Utilities and PA of the Lutech Group – is the result of the integration of skills and experience gained over time in different fields and markets. It represents a perfect mix of the Lutech Group’s ability to know how to design and implement cutting-edge solutions both in the industrial field and in the multiutilities field and the skills of Spindox, a dynamic system integrator with a strong innovative drive, which like Lutech is at the at the forefront of data intelligence and AI solutions”.
“Our Infor WMS solution, together with the expertise of the Lutech Group, will allow Iren to optimize warehouse activities and costs, ensuring a high level of customer service. Furthermore, the advantages of the AWS-based Cloud environment will provide high scalability, security and ease of updating, further simplifying Iren’s processes” he declares Bruno PaganiGeneral Manager, Infor Italy.
“At a time when the issue of energy resources appears dramatically central on the international and Italian scene, it is precious to have a partner like Lutech, leader in the Energy market thanks to its technological skills, and it is significant for us at Spindox that Ublique© proves once again a valid ally for industries in this sector such as Iren, which has chosen it as a crucial solution for optimizing stocks and therefore reducing waste and costs, thanks to artificial intelligence” he says Giulia Gestri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Spindox.
