Irelands artist calls for Israel to be excluded from Eurovision

The final of the Eurovision song contest is just around the corner and the artists are running through their last genre rep. A lot happened during the finals day.

Here the artist refuses to be in a picture with Israel’s Eden Golan

Artist of the Netherlands Joost Klein with his entry “Europapa” was washed out of the competition just a few hours before the final. According to the European Broadcasting Union, EBU, it is an “incident” between Klein and a female employee at the production.

The police in Malmö investigate suspect Klein of illegal threats.

After it became clear that the Netherlands’ entry would not be allowed in the final, Ireland’s artist also backed out Bambi Thug. She was not seen during Saturday’s rehearsal and instead a film from one of her previous appearances was shown.

On her Instagram, the singer writes the following:

“A situation arose while we were waiting to go on stage that I felt I needed to bring to the EBU’s attention. The EBU has taken this seriously and we have had a discussion about what needs to be done. This means I will miss the dress rehearsal . I’m sorry to all the fans who have come to see me”

Bambi Thug doesn’t seem to be sure herself whether she will perform or not during the finale. She ends the message by saying “I hope to see you on stage tonight”

However, this was not the only reason why Bambi Thug was absent from Saturday’s rehearsal. In an interview with Irish RTE, she says she wants Israel to be excluded.

During the rehearsal for the semi-final, Bambie Thug had written the words “truce” and “freedom for Palestine” on his body in the late medieval written language ogham, according to The evening paper.

Bambie Thug is critical of what Israel’s commentator said about her performance on Wednesday.

– There will be a lot of spells, black magic, satanic symbols and voodoo dolls, the commentator said then, according to RTE.

As for Israel’s Eden Golan, she continued to be met with boos from the crowd during Saturday’s rep.
