The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns an alleged Koran burning in Denmark outside the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly and repeatedly condemns the incident of abuse of the Holy Koran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi embassy in Denmark,” writes the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The ministry calls on the international community to “promptly and responsibly oppose these atrocities that violate social peace and coexistence in the world”.
Copenhagen police confirm to Ritzau on Saturday morning that two people burned “a book” at the Iraqi embassy on Friday afternoon.
The police do not want to clarify whether it was precisely a copy of the Koran that was in question, writes Ritzau.
