Iran’s supreme leader: Israel will be punished

Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei threatens to punish Israel for the attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria.
– Israel has committed a mistake, he says during a televised speech.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a speech on the Eid al-Fitr religious holiday that marks the end of the fasting month.

– An attack on our consulate is an attack on our land, says Ali Khamenei in a televised speech and continues:

– Israel has made a mistake and will be punished.

High-ranking Iranian leaders have also previously threatened Israel. Israeli embassies are “no longer safe,” said Yahya Rahim, an adviser to Ali Khamenei.

After the threats from Iran, Israel has strengthened its defenses and called home thousands of off-duty soldiers.

At least 16 people, seven of whom belonged to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, were killed in the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
