Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi is traveling to China on Monday, Iran’s state media reported.
Raisi has received an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping and will be in China for three days, according to the Iranian data. The stated aim is to strengthen the economic ties between the countries.
Iran is subject to extensive sanctions by large parts of the outside world, but China is the country’s largest trading partner. In 2021, the two countries signed an agreement on a “strategic cooperation pact” that will last for 25 years.
