With our correspondent in Tehran, Siavosh Ghazi
The publication of this letter is a first. She denounces violence of all kinds such as fondling, verbal abuse, salary deductions and even rape in the film industry against women artists.
The signatories ask for the creation of an independent committee within the “Maison du cinema”, the official trade union, to look into and investigate this violence.
A first for Iranian cinema
On his Instagram pageactress Taraneh Alidoosti denounces this violence: The issue of taking action against violence and rape against women is a global issue. More than laws, which are certainly necessary, I think we need to change people’s mentalities and culture. »
In recent years, women artists have individually denounced this violence, but this is the first time that such a campaign has been launched by so many artists, like the #Metoo movement in the United States.
