The Iranian actor Taraneh Alidoosti, who, among other things, has appeared in the Oscar-winning film “The salesman”, has been released from the Evin prison in Tehran, writes The Wrap.

The information was provided by Alidoosti’s mother Nadereh Hakim Elahi in a post on Instagram on Wednesday morning, and confirmed by the actor’s lawyer Zahra Minooei on Twitter.

“Today my client Taraneh Alidoosti will be released from Evin Prison after posting bail,” Minooei tweeted.

Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested in early December by Iranian police after expressing support for the protests that have raged in the country since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in September in the custody of Iranian morality police.

The arrest of Alidoosti has been condemned by, among others, the British actor Emma Thompson, the director Mike Leigh and by the Cannes Film Festival.
