The attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria will not be left unanswered, Iran threatens once again.

Israel is reported to be keeping close to 30 embassies closed for fear of revenge attacks during the so-called Quds Day, when Iran spreads the regime’s opposition to Israel.

– The collapse of the Zionist regime is absolutely possible and imminent, says Hossein Salami, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in a speech in Tehran on Friday.

He adds that the US has become increasingly “hated by the outside world”, especially in countries with dominant Muslim populations.

In the Middle East, concerns are rising about an upcoming Iranian revenge attack, which is feared could lead to the war between Israel and Hamas escalating to the entire region.

Salami’s speech was preceded by a funeral procession for the Revolutionary Guards killed in this week’s attack in Damascus, which Israel is believed to be behind. Thousands of protesters chanted “death to Israel” and “death to America” as the procession moved through the capital. Iran generally equates Israel with the United States, which it holds responsible for Israel’s military capabilities.

16 people were killed in the attack in Damascus, seven of whom belonged to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Two of them were generals, one of them a senior commander.

The funeral procession coincides with Quds Day, also called Jerusalem Day, when Iran, since the Islamic revolution in 1979, shows its support for the Palestinian cause and calls for resistance to Israel.

Israel has raised its military readiness ahead of Quds Day, reports The Times of Israel. According to the newspaper’s sources, 28 Israeli embassies around the world are closed during the day for fear of revenge attacks.
