Iran votes in the second round of the presidential election | News in brief

The second round of presidential elections will be held in Iran today. That’s what the reformists are competing for Masoud Pezeshkian and ultraconservative Saeed Jalili.

In the first round, Pezeshkian got a good 42 percent of the votes and Jalili 38.6 percent. Voter turnout in the first round of Iran’s elections was around 40 percent, the lowest since 1979.

Elections are held because the president Ebrahim Raisi died earlier this year in a helicopter crash.
