Iran reversed its decision on the death sentence of rapper

The death sentence had aroused widespread objections abroad as well.

The Supreme Court of Iran has overruled a popular rap artist in the country Toomaj Saleh death sentence. The matter was reported by Saleh’s lawyer in the message service X.

Saleni was arrested Masha Aminin in connection with the death-caused protests in 2022 and was sentenced to death in April this year. Amini was a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman who died at the hands of Iran’s moral police.

According to Saleh’s lawyer, the Supreme Court has now ordered the trial to be repeated.

Saleh’s release has been demanded in demonstrations also outside Iran, for example at the May Day demonstration in Paris.
