(Finance) – “The Government confirms its commitment to the Iranian authorities for the immediate release of Cecilia Sala, and, pending her release, for respectful treatment of human dignity”. This – Palazzo Chigi announced in a note – is the outcome of the meeting called this afternoon by the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in relation to the detention in Iran of the Italian journalist Cecilia Sala. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, the undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovanoand the diplomatic advisor to the President, Fabrizio Saggio.
With regard to Mohammad Abediniwho is currently in precautionary detention at the request of the United States authorities, “the Government reiterates that all detainees are guaranteed equal treatment in compliance with Italian laws and international conventions”.
