Iran: Lawyer in the high-profile Amini case arrested

A lawyer representing several imprisoned journalists and activists in Iran has been arrested, the Iranian newspaper Ham-Mihan reports.

It is about Mohammad Ali Kamfirouzi who, among other things, represented the journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi. They were among the first to report the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Zhina Amini, and now the two face the death penalty.

Tens of thousands have been arrested during the nationwide protests sparked by the death of 22-year-old Amini in Iranian moral police custody on September 16.
