Iran has begun construction of a new 10-megawatt nuclear research reactor in the province of Isfahan.
According to the news of the Iranian official agency IRNA, the construction of the nuclear research reactor in Isfahan started with a ceremony attended by the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran, Mohammed Islami.
The 10-megawatt pool-type reactor, using 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel, will be used for testing nuclear fuels, the production of medical and industrial radioisotopes, and the development of research and applications of neutron beams, the report said.
It was stated that the nuclear research reactor will be located within the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center, one of the largest nuclear facilities in the country.
