Iran’s Revolutionary Guard assisted Hamas and played an active role in planning the large-scale attack on Israel.

Sources within Hamas and Hezbollah told the Wall Street Journal.

According to the information, representatives of the Revolutionary Guards should have finally given the green light to the attack at a meeting in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Monday last week.

This is said to have been the culmination of a series of meetings between Iran and four Iran-backed militia groups, among them both Hamas and Hezbollah.

Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on Saturday was described as Israel’s worst in half a century – coming almost 50 years after the outbreak of the October 1973 war.

The United States has so far stated that it has not seen evidence that Tehran would have been directly involved, but a European source tells the Wall Street Journal that it has received the same information regarding Iran’s role in the planning.

From the Iranian side, they claim to be behind the attack, but deny involvement.

– The decisions made by the Palestinian resistance are strongly independent and are completely in line with the interests of the Palestinian people. We are not involved in Palestine’s response because this is entirely up to Palestine itself, a spokesperson for Iran’s UN envoy told the WSJ.
