Iran announces free visas for 2022 World Cup spectators

Iran decided on Wednesday April 13 to make visas free for travelers coming from Qatar where they will come to attend matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This decision aims to encourage tourists to visit Iran during the World Cup and stimulate the tourism industry there Iranian government spokesman Ali Bahadori-Jahromi said. This declaration comes after the Qatari Minister of Transport, Jassim bin Saif al-Sulaiti, was received on Sunday and Monday on the Iranian island of Kish, located in the Gulf. During the visit of the Qatari official, six cooperation agreements were signed, bringing the daily number of flights between the two countries from 72 to 200, according to the official Irna agency. The increased cooperation aims to facilitate the stay on the island of Kish, located 40 minutes by flight or six hours by boat from Doha. This 92 km2 island, located in the Gulf 270 km from Doha, has 42,000 inhabitants, according to Irna. Iran qualified at the end of January for the final phase of the World Cup which will take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.
