iPhone users beware Heed this warning or you may lose

As the interest in cryptocurrencies increased, cryptocurrency exchanges also got their share of this interest, while iPhone users were invited to be careful against the new trap of cyber fraudsters. So much so that if you do not heed this warning, you may lose all the money you have saved throughout your life.

FAKE APP SHOCK FOR iPHONE! OVER THE WALLS OF APPLE…

In a report by The Sun newspaper, it was noted that the attackers managed to bypass Apple’s firewalls to distribute fake cryptocurrency applications to iOS users.

It was stated that after the malware was installed on a device, people emptied their cryptocurrency wallets without their knowledge.

Sophos, a UK-based security software and hardware company, said it looked like an organized crime known as “CryptoRom”, which uses a combination of social engineering and bogus financial apps and websites, often romantically speaking, to trap victims and steal their savings after gaining their trust.

HOW DOES CYBER FRAUD OCCUR?

According to Sophos, fraud happens as follows;

The scammers are exploiting a vulnerability in Apple’s TestFlight app that allows developers to test beta apps before anyone else. They create malicious, fake cryptocurrency apps and then distribute them to users via TestFlight.

Developers can invite up to 10,000 testers through TestFlight to install dangerous apps. In addition, any iOS user with TestFlight installed on their device can download these applications. While the apps appear to be legitimate cryptocurrency wallets or exchanges, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are stolen by scammers when people download these dangerous apps.

“THEY COST THE MONEY SAVED THROUGH THEIR LIVES”

Noting that this threat is still very active, the company said it continues to affect victims around the world, and in some cases costs people money saved over their lifetimes.

On the other hand, the researchers added that Android users are also targeted by the malware.

Apple has previously urged TestFlight users not to download and install software from unknown sources. The company also has a website with tips for avoiding fraud.
