iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max come with 8 GB

One of the pre-launch rumors suggested that there would be RAM increases for at least the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max model. Trusted source Aaron (@aaronp613) says he can now verify this from files available in Xcode.

Both iPhone 15 Pro as well as iPhone 15 Pro Maxof, equivalent iPhone 14 found that it has 8GB of RAM, going even higher than the 6GB found in its models.

The two Pro models also came with a RAM increase as part of the upgrade to the A17 Pro chip.

One rumor that did not come to light was that the top storage tier would be increased from 1TB to 2TB. This would appeal to those who use their iPhones for serious photography and especially videography work. The rumor was half true, as storage tiers for the Pro models were said to finally start at 256GB, and that turned out to be true.

But Apple has a nice surprise for photographers and videographers: the iPhone 15 now supports tethered shooting to a Mac, automatic high-speed transfer of photos as they’re taken, and saving videos directly to an external SSD.

Linked shooting, which is widely used in studio photography, saves time by eliminating the need to transfer photos at the end of the shoot, as well as allowing both the photographer and the client to view the photos on a full-size screen during the shoot.

Capturing video to an external SSD has until now only been used in cinema cameras. Shooting on an SSD gives you access to terabytes of storage at affordable prices, and also speeds up the transition from shooting to editing by plugging the SSD into the Mac at the end of shooting.
