Currently under testing, the iOS 18 update is in beta. We explain the process to download it: it is at your own risk!

The WWDC opening keynote was an opportunity for Apple to unveil a complete list of new software and hardware features. The event which took place on the evening of June 10, 2024 was placed under the sign of Artificial Intelligence, more commonly called “Apple Intelligence“.

The iOS 18 operating system update was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated announcements by users. Good news ! CEO Tim Cook himself announced, in the wake of the conference announcements, the release of the beta version for developers. For the curious who are impatient to discover the new options offered by the iOS 18 update, know that it is possible to have them now.

First of all, be aware that installing this version involves risks. It is advisable to wait for the public beta version which will be available in July 2024. Other precautions should be taken and they should not be taken lightly. First, check if your device is compatible with the iOS 18 update. You can consult the list below:

After that, it is better to initiate a backup of your data on iCloud which you can recover later. In addition, it is strongly recommended to use another iPhone than your daily one to carry out the installation. The risks of bug problems and data loss cannot be excluded. Finally, make sure to leave enough free space on your iPhone to prevent it from being full when downloading.

Finally, you will need to register with Apple beta software program and create a developer account. Without this, you will not be able to have the beta version of iOS 18. Once all the precautions have been followed, you can proceed to install the beta version of iOS 18.

The process of installing the Beta iOS version on iPhone:

  • Open the app Settings on your iPhone and select the menu General
  • Once you arrive in the menu, click on Software update and select Beta update
  • Then activate the iOS 18 beta which is displayed on your screen and you can proceed with the download.

When installing the final version of iOS 18, all you need to do is return to these same settings and check the option “No” to deactivate the beta version. While waiting for its release scheduled for fall 2024, you may be asked for updates to correct possible bugs and add options.
