Which feature is it about? On March 25, the information went around Reddit that Inzoi puts “Denuvo” on the extremely unpopular copy protection at Gamern.
Denuvo has been criticized by players for years. The allegations are often that the performance deteriorates and shorten the lifespan of SSDS by excessive writing. And of course protection also prevents pirated copies of games – not everyone likes that either.
Many players expressed their frustration on social networks, especially on Reddit and the official Discord server of the game and indicated that they did not want to acquire the game with Denuvo. One user wrote, for example: “This is extremely worrying and disappointing. I was really looking forward to buying it – but probably not now.” The community believed that Inzoi could show a bad technical performance with Denuvo – especially because there was no good performance in the demo without a denuvo.
One day after it became known that Inzoi was supposed to rely on Denuvo, the developers announced that they surround themselves through the criticism of the players and forego the copy protection.
Definition of denuvo gives modder more freedom
What do the developers say about Denuvo? On March 26, the director of Inzoi, Hyungjun Kim, spoke up and explained that Inzoi would do without Denuvo after mature consideration.
On the game’s official discord server, he wrote:
Finally, we have experienced growing concern about implementing the Denuvo-Anti manipulation solution in Inzoi. Although we wanted to react as soon as possible, we also thought it was important to tackle the topic with care – and advise ourselves with teams from all over the world to make a well thought -out and well -founded decision. We sincerely apologize for the delay in the transmission of this official answer. To go into the most important point: We decided to remove Denuvo from the Early Access Build from Inzoi.
Hyungjun Kim explains that the original idea behind the implementation of Denuvo was to create fairness towards players through protection against pirate copies who correctly acquire the game. However, the team has now learned that Denuvo could negatively affect the gaming experience than they originally thought.
In addition, according to Hyungjun Kim, the developers came to the realization that the removal of Denuvo enabled to make Inzoi “freely configurable”. Inzoi should become a strongly modifiable game and the distance from Denuvo should create an even more open environment for modder.
Perhaps an active mod community will help to create the difficult undertaking, to push Sims from the throne. In any case, Hyungjun Kim now understands why so few developers face this challenge: “Now I understand why so few tried” – head of Inzoi explains why it is difficult to overtake Sims
