(Finance) – “At the end of the year we will exceed one billion in revenues for the first timewhen we were born four years ago we were at 750 million. We are evolving from a pure tower company to a broad-based infrastructure company and remain one of the fastest growing tower companies.” Diego Galli, General Director Of INWITin an interview with “L’Economia” of Corriere della Sera, in which he traces the company’s growth path and the investments planned in the coming months dedicated to the construction of new DAS (Distributed Antenna System) towers and covers for indoor locations .
“We have an investment plan of 800 million between outdoor and indoor digital infrastructures – said Galli – On the first front we are continuing with projects to densify and strengthen the network for the benefit of operators. Every year we build 900 towers. Here the Pnrr’s Italy 5G Plan is important to bring 5G to around 1,400 white areas – 400 small villages and 250 mountain areas – by 2026. The program is worth more than 300 million and so far is in line with the deadlines. Now we will have to accelerate further and, despite the important simplifications introduced in the authorization processes, we are still encountering difficulties in obtaining permits to install the towers in some municipalities”.
“Besides, we are working on network coverage of closed, indoor areaswhere 80% of data traffic is concentrated. In Milan we have just completed the 5G infrastructure of the new metro 4, the blue one, the second in Europe entirely in 5G. Furthermore, we recently signed an agreement with A2A on micro-coverages. We will install small 5G cells above A2A’s electricity poles which will allow us to better enable connectivity in areas with high commercial density such as city centres, to complete macro-coverage”, added Galli.
