Visitation zones should be able to be introduced if there is a risk of shooting or explosions in a certain area, an investigation suggests.

– The risk must be attributable to a conflict between groups, says investigator Karin Erlingsson, head of legal affairs at the Swedish Customs Service, at a press conference.

The accelerated investigation into visitation zones was handed over to the government on Thursday.

The proposal for visitation zones, or security zones as the investigator wants to call them, is about establishing temporary areas where the police will be able to search people without concrete suspicion of crime.

– There is a need for better conditions for the police to perform body searches and also to search vehicles in order to search for weapons and dangerous objects. The aim should be crime prevention, says Karin Erlingsson at a joint press meeting with Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M).

– A safety zone must be of particular importance to prevent or prevent the current crime, says Erlingsson.
