“The OPP presence at that location is part of an ongoing investigation,” OPP Const. Brett Phair told The Daily News. “There is no threat to public safety.”

Phair added police will provide further updates when available.

Just before 9:30 am, Chatham-Kent police issued a media release reiterating there was no threat to public safety as officers were “executing a warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.”

When The Daily News attended the scene shortly after, there were two OPP vehicles present, with the road open to traffic. The scene was cleared in the afternoon.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said he wasn’t aware of any criminal activity or other problems at the residence in question.

He said he was home when officers arrived, estimating there were a dozen police vehicles. He added there were also officers in tactical gear, but had no information on what happened.

“I’d like to find out,” he said. “There’s never been an issue there.”

The man did say he witnessed police attending residences on nearby Wills Street on a number of occasions.

This story will be updated.
