Vinland Saga is coming to Netflix today as an action-packed newcomer, but Vikings fans shouldn’t let the fact that this is an anime series put you off. The story evokes many of the elements that made Vikings so popular.

Vinland Saga on Netflix: Why Vikings fans should check out the series

The boy Thorfinn belongs to the Norse people in Vinland Saga. At the beginning of the 11th century he lived in Iceland with his family. His father Thor was once a great warrior, but has since retired. When he is nevertheless called into battle (against the English) and on the way there loses his life at the hands of an ally, his successor swears Revenge.

Similarities to other achievements like Vikings find it plentiful and can now be checked on Netflix: The revenge story of the son of a murdered ruler is initially strongly reminiscent of the Viking epic The Northman, one of the best films of 2022 so far. The England storyline, on the other hand, takes the Vikings notch: Valhalla, where the Norse men and women also participated in the Anglo-Saxon struggle for the crown. The additional (eponymous) search for the legendary Vinland is reminiscent of Ragnar, Ubbe and Co.’s urge to explore in Vikings.

Also, Vikings and Valhalla fans can join Vinland Saga on Netflix Reunion with familiar Vikings characters to celebrate. It is no coincidence that historical names such as Floki, Leif Eriksson, King Sven/Sweyn Gabelbart and Prince Knut/Canute seem familiar to us here. In 24 half-hour episodes a story of revenge, betrayal and plenty of combat unfolds.

Not only on Netflix: where you can still watch the Vikings replacement Vinland Saga
