(Finance) – Intesa Sanpaolo and the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) organized an exhibition today of wheelchair tennis and a test of this sport for the public Nitto ATP Finals. The aim of the initiative was to demonstrate that, with passion and determination, all people can approach a sporting discipline, such as tennis.
The public present in the Foyer of theInalpi Arena thus had the unique opportunity to attend the demonstration of exceptional wheelchair tennis athletes and to try to dribble with them, showing that there are no age or ability limits and that tennis is a sport that unites and can be practiced by anyone.
Professional wheelchair tennis athletes played for the demonstration Luca Paiardi, Hegor Of Joy, Maria Vietti and young people Lorenzo Politanò And Andrea Roccamo. Among the people invited by Intesa Sanpaolo to try this sporting discipline: Gianluca Cosentinogeneral secretary of Volare, an association that has been working to spread this Paralympic sport since 2011 and which organizes the important Mole Trophy 2.0 of Turin, Federica Gardella And David AschieriFITP professional tennis players, ready to facilitate exchanges and get involved, making everything even more exciting. Two creators also participated, Paul Schiavone And Luca Campolunghi who, for the first time, tried wheelchair tennis to share the experience on their social profiles.
Wheelchair tennis or wheelchair tennis it was invented in 1976 and played in Italy for the first time in 1987. The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation included wheelchair tennis in its statute in 2010, today there are approximately 600 players between tennis and padel and over 90 national and international tournaments. Wheelchair tennis is played with everyone’s rules, with the only exception that the ball can bounce twice, on any surface and in any FITP-affiliated tennis club.
