(Finance) – Brescia is the reference point for the broad program for the reduction of inequalities promoted by Carlo Messina, CEO and Managing Director of Intesa Sanpaolo. From here, in the historic Palazzo Negroboni in Piazza del Duomo, the initiatives designed and implemented by are developed throughout Italy “Intesa Sanpaolo for Social Affairs”the structure dedicated exclusively to the fight against poverty and the promotion of social inclusion through paths of collaboration and the creation of virtuous private, private social and public networks. Intesa Sanpaolo – the bank said in a note – promotes a real social contribution to the community with resources for 1.5 billion euros by 2027 and over a thousand people who work every day in the bank towards these objectives. He was an inspiration for this commitment, and for the social identity of the Bank Giovanni Bazoli, president emeritus of Intesa Sanpaolo.
The Group’s social commitment dates back to five centuries of philanthropy and generosity, but since 2018 it has entered the Business Plan as a strategic objective of the Bank, including the one underway until 2025. The people who work in “Intesa Sanpaolo for Social” – we read in the note – are focused on three areas of development: 1) the analysis of social needs, the direction and coordination of the Group’s multiple initiatives, the creation of networks with social actors for the study of system and subsidiarity actions with high social impact; 2) the implementation of concrete actions to respond to primary needs and wide-ranging programs aimed at the inclusion and social cohesion of people and families in fragile situations; 3) the fight against educational poverty through training and employability programs aimed above all at young people and people in disadvantaged conditions.
The operational model of interventions adopts a co-planning and joint work approach to create solidarity ecosystems characterized by multi-year planning, ability to respond to needs, plurality of subjects involved and capillarity across the territories. They were carried out in the period 2022-2023 over 36.8 million interventions to combat poverty of the 50 million target of the Business Plan.
In 2023, Intesa Sanpaolo’s support to meet social needs saw the expansion of Food and shelter program for people in need, with concrete aid on the territory in Italy and support abroad in relation to the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine: over 36.8 million interventions carried out between 2022 and 2023, approximately 30 million meals, approximately 3.3 million beds , over 3.2 million medicines and over 446 thousand items of clothing; employability projects such as the “Youth and Work” program aimed at training and access to the Italian job market for over 3 thousand young people within the horizon of the 2022-2025 Business Plan: in 2023 registration requests from over 6,300 students including the 18 and 29 year olds, over 2 thousand students interviewed and around 920 trained and in training with 37 courses (over 3,900 trained and in training since 2019) and around 2,400 companies involved since the launch of the initiative in 2019; with initiatives for young people, childhood, women, social housing.
“Brescia will be the heart and mind of the great program spread throughout the country wanted by Carlo Messina. We look to the future with a great sense of responsibility: for a bank that has excellent results like ours, – he commented Paolo Bonassi, executive director Strategic Initiatives and Social Impact Intesa Sanpaolo – helping those in need is a moral imperative and a concrete interest, a strong and cohesive community is the basis of the country’s growth. With the work of a thousand people, resources of 1.5 billion euros by 2027 and continuity of action over the years, Intesa Sanpaolo is an institution that has no equals for its contribution to communities”.
