Intesa Sanpaolo accelerates towards reducing its own emissions

(Finance) – Intesa Sanpaolo provides a further acceleration towards the reduction of own emissions. In line with the development path of its ESG strategy, the Banking Group has in fact signed an agreement for the supply of electricity from renewable sources with A2A, through A2A Energia, the Group’s commercial company.
The agreement – explains Intesa Sanpaolo in a note – provides for the supply of energy for approximately 10% of the Group’s annual needs in Italy (equal to approximately 30Gwh) for 10 years, thanks to 2 newly built photovoltaic systems located in Sicily . The plants, which have a production profile that guarantees coverage of the indicated needs, will come into operation during 2024.

“Intesa Sanpaolo confirms its strategy aimed at significantly reducing its own emissions – he declared Alfonso Guido, Chief Cost Management Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo –. The Group, thanks to this agreement, provides an active contribution to the transition process of the national production system towards decarbonisation, recording further advantages thanks to the diversification of sources of
energy supply and the stabilization of the purchase price for part of its needs”.

“For A2A – we read in the note – the agreement represents an opportunity to make medium-long term solutions available to an important partner like Intesa Sanpaolo to concretely support companies on the path towards decarbonisation and, thanks to the production of energy renewable energy, making a concrete contribution to the country’s energy transition”.
