The 40-year-old from Malmö is wanted in Sweden on suspicion of serious drug crimes and in the US for having been a leading administrator and enabler of serious organized crime through the FBI’s own chat service Anom. This summer, the US Department of State issued an appeal – offering a reward of up to SEK 54 million for information leading to an arrest.
The man was an important piece of the puzzle when the FBI managed to spread Anom in criminal networks. He was tricked by the Americans and sold phones with Anom installed to several criminal gangs. Through Anom, American and Swedish police could read what criminals wrote to each other, and in Sweden the Anom chats led to the arrest of 155 people.
Lived in Turkey in recent years
Despite the international wanted man, the Swede could often be seen out in Istanbul’s nightlife, and is said to have acquired a dog and several homes after he was internationally wanted and arranged citizenship in Turkey. After the US reward became known, he completely disappeared from the radar, according to SVT.
According to the Turkish interior minister, the man must have applied for Turkish citizenship under a false name. Turkey is said to have subsequently begun the procedure to revoke his Turkish citizenship.
He is one of several internationally wanted criminal suspects who have been arrested in Turkey recently.
This is how SVT reported on the man when he was charged in 2021 in the clip below.
