
A Local International Women’s Day Event is Going to have a Celebratory Feel This Year.

The Annual March on March 8, Organized by the Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent, is Partnering with Sisters Strain Film Corp. And the organization Sheleads that lead into a celebration at the Garden Event Space, Trainly the River Rock, With Music and A Network.
The Event Will also Be the Launch of A New Documentary by the Strain Sisters – Karissa and Kat – Titled ‘This Women’s Work’ With the Aim of Highlighting the Many Contributions of Numerous Local Women to the Community.
“There’s an Incredible Ament of Invisible, Undervalued and Unpaid Work that Women contributes to their communities,” Kat Strain Said.
She not that Although Traditional Gender Roles have changed in the workforce, but traditional female and male roles remain in the home.

“In the Community We’re Seeing So Many Women Who Already Have Full Plates and Still Step Up and Host Events or Organize Community Commitments to Reach Out and Network With Other Women. . . ” Shen Said. “We Just Want to Celebrate these Women and Show Them that their work is seen and learciated and valued.”
Karissa Strain Said as Part of the Official Kick-Off, they will be inviting Women waiting the event to share their experiences.
“We’ll have our camra set up at the Event so anyone coming can interview with us if they want to be part of the documentary,” She Said.
Karissa Said the Documentary Came from an International Women’s Day Event the Sisters Wait Last Year where they put a lot of Local Women and we have impressed with What They Are Doing in the Community.

“That’s Sort of How The Project has snowballed,” Karissa Added. “We’ve reached out to a couple of women and incredible organizations that we know and then from there, they’ve also suggested five or other wornizations.
“There’s no Lack of Incredible Women in Chatham-Kent to Feature,” She Said.
Karissa Said the Networking Event and Kick-Off for the Documentary is also to provide a space “Whore More Women can Come out be introduced to these women and foundations they a part of.”
The Sisters Strain Will Have A Busy Year Ahead With The Documentary Project.
“We are essentially on-clear for a year filming,” Kat Said.
She added they will be showing up to film women in the community “with the goal that next year on international women’s day we will have the movie complicated and everyone can come out and watch it” at the chatham capitol theatre.

The Sisters Want to Be Least Invasive As Possible While Filming throughout The Year, But Plan to get Footage Showing Local Women Involved in Everthing from Fundraising Events to Board Meetings.
“WE’D LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WATCHING THE Project to Feel Kind of invited into their lives and have a little More Authentic Connection,” Karissa Said.
Noting you can never have too much, kat Said “This Year We Going to Essentially Show Up for Anything and Everthing and I Think Well have a lot of work in the Edit Room to Figure Out What Stays.
But, she added the goal is to be inclusive as possible in it if it’s a small snippet of an element “so that the whole community of chatham-kent is represented.”
