Utrecht – Wilco Nijland from Utrecht has received international recognition for his initiative to play beach volleyball in major cities. The Queen & King of the Court, devised by him, is now an official discipline in beach volleyball. That has been decided by the World Volleyball Federation. Sportworx, the Dutch organizer and creator of this discipline, has agreed long-term partnerships with the CEV, FIVB and Volleyball World. These agreements give the new format an official and recognized status.
