Internal criticism of Demirok: “A clear security risk”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Internal criticism is being raised within the center party. Opposition councilor Helena Lundgren in Vindeln believes that Muharrem Demirok is not the right person to lead the party.

Demirok’s history with two assault convictions and his dual citizenship in Sweden and Turkey mean that he is not the right successor to Annie Lööf, the center profile believes.

– I think it is a fairly clear security risk if we start having party leaders in Sweden with access to foreign policy secrets, which in his case belong to one of the world’s largest militant powers, says Helena Lundgren.

The criticism: Has gone too fast

Helena Lundgren is also critical of the election committee’s work. The process has gone too fast and although it has been open to a certain extent, the nominations have been secret, according to her.

The party leadership does not want to comment on Lundgren’s criticism and says that Muharrem Demirok has begun the process of terminating his citizenship in Turkey.

At the special meeting on February 2, a new party leader will be elected. TV4 Nyheterna has contacted all 25 district chairmen in the country. Of the twelve who responded, all are satisfied with the election committee’s proposal that Demirok be the new party leader.
