(Finance) – Three new races Frecciarossa to and from Fiumicino Airport, with a absolute novelty: the direct connection between the Roman airport and stations Central Naples and Naples Afragola.
Starting yesterday, Monday 11 July the new services of Trenitalia to enhance the integration between train and plane with direct High Speed connections between Fiumicino airport and Southern Italy and the enhancement of current connections with the center of the country.
In line with the government and European strategy on development and incentives intermodality, llaunch of the new connections is a concrete result of the agreement on msustainable obility signed on 17 March by Luigi Ferraris, CEO of FS Italiane, and Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma. This agreement – the note clarifies – also aims to make passenger and baggage check-in available in the near future, in coordination with ENAC, directly at the departure railway station.
In detail, Trenitalia’s offer to and from Fiumicino airport is enriched with three new Frecciarossa connections, two to and from Naples and one departing from Florence Santa Maria Novella, and which are added to the Frecce to and from Venice, Padua, Bologna, Florence and Rome, to the Leonardo Express direct between Fiumicino and Roma Termini and the numerous regional connections of the FL1 Fiumicino Airport – Rome – Orte line.
Connections and timetables have been studied by Trenitalia and Rome Airports to identify the best integration between high-speed trains and intercontinental flights arriving and departing from the first Italian airport center in favor of greater integration between train and plane and with the aim of consolidating the role of smart hub of the Leonardo da Vinci airport . With these connections, passengers can be in New York in the early afternoon, leaving early in the morning from Naples or Florence, guaranteeing a better union between collective and shared means of transport, an objective at the center of the activities of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group which brings together all the Group transport company.
The working table between FS Italiane and Aeroporti di Roma – concludes the note – it will continue and will be enriched by commercial agreements with airlines operating in Fiumicino to integrate the reciprocal sales and distribution systems with the possibility of carrying out the operations of passenger and baggage check-in directly in the main railway stations connected to the Leonardo da Vinci airport.
