Jesper Karlsson started the company in 2020. He has so far sold around 7,000 dolls, especially in the Nordic countries but is gaining more and more customers in Europe. This year he expects to triple sales compared to 2024.
– It is mainly middle -aged men who buy, but we have customers from 20 years onwards.
He believes, among other things, is due to the fact that the dolls have become more true to reality and the lack of sex toys for men.
– In general, I do not think that it is possible to make as fun sex toys for men as for women based on that we have different anatomy. There is no adequate alternative except the dolls.
Many reasons for purchases
According to Jesper, there are many reasons why people want to buy a doll. It can be about getting company or being able to experiment. There are also those who buy a doll due to physical or mental disabilities.
– Some may think that it is very busy with human contact and can then practice having a doll next to them. Or that you have a high sexual drive for which you cannot get an outlet.
The phenomenon of sex dolls, also called fantasy shots, has grown – not just in terms of number of purchases. In Denmark and Finland, for example, there are brothels with sex dolls.
“Women’s bodies are reduced to goods”
The dolls are also met by strong criticism. Among other things, they reinforce the idea that women exist to satisfy men, says Susannah Sjöberg, secretary general of Sweden’s women’s organizations.
– That men want to be able to choose body type, breast size, butt shape is just one of several examples of how women’s bodies are reduced to goods.
Jesper does not agree and believes that the community around the dolls is clean and humble.
– I think it is sad that you think it develops bad sides in men, I think it is the opposite when you see how the dolls are taken care of.
