Supported by the junta, participants in the inter-Malian dialogue recommended extending the duration of the transition to Mali from 2 to 5 years. Among the other key recommendations is the candidacy of Colonel Assimi Goïtahead of the junta, in the next presidential election, the exact date of which has not yet been set.
If he became a candidate, in principle facing him, he would not have many opponents from the political class. The participants in the dialogue indeed called for a drastic reduction in the number of political groups authorized to operate in the country. Remember that a few weeks ago, the junta suspended all parties from activities until further notice. They therefore did not participate in the meeting.
Security problems on the national territory were also mentioned. And among the recommendations, there is the request to open dialogue with armed jihadist groups. In the same security area, the participants in the meeting recommend the dissolution of all armed militias on the national territory.
