Intel launches its new NUC 12 Extreme mini PC with

Little but strong ! This slogan is perfectly suited to the new mini PC that Intel has just announced. Previously known under the code name Dragon Canyon, the NUC 12 Extreme (12 x 18.9 x 35.7 cm) is distinguished by the use of twelfth generation Core i7-12700 or Core i9-12900 processors intended for machines of office (Alder Lake-S).

Thus, the Core i9 version has 16 cores, with a frequency reaching 5.1 GHz in Turbo Boost mode. The integrated UHD Graphics 770 GPU helps deliver good performance for gaming and digital creation, but you can also install an external graphics card (up to 12”) thanks to the PCIe x16 Gen5 slot.

Intel’s NUC uses a modular concept called NUC 12 Extreme Compute Element (code name Eden Bay). The processor, memory (up to 64GB DDR4-3200), and storage (up to three M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSDs) are housed in a removable enclosure, as shown in the photo below:

The NUC 12 Extreme Compute Element also features input/output ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0b output and six USB 3.2 Gen2 sockets.

To ensure efficient cooling, the NUC 12 Extreme has a fan in the Extreme Compute Element module and three fans on the top of the case, as shown in the photo below:
