Intel has just discreetly announced the upcoming end of Unison, its excellent bond application and synchronization between mobile and PC. It will now be necessary to use other tools, such as connected mobile, integrated into Windows 11.
Intel has just announced the imminent end of its application Unwarfits (free) connection application between smartphones and tablets (Android or iOS) and Windows 11 PCs. Launched in 2022, the tool had been hailed for its ability to create a real bridge between mobiles and computers, in particular by its ability to manage calls, messages, notifications and file transfers directly from PC. It was on this plan clearly in advance on the Microsoft, connected mobile solution (Phone Link in English). According to the information disseminated by Intel, it will gradually cease to operate by the end of June 2025.
Intel Unison: a practical, reliable tool and in advance on the Microsoft solution
Unison was the fruit of the redemption of the company Screenovate by Intel in 2021, an acquisition encrypted at 100 million dollars. The application was quickly positioned as a serious alternative to the connected mobile application. Its main asset then resided in its compatibility with Apple’s iPhones, which Microsoft’s tool has taken more time to integrate effectively. This advance, combined with a use deemed fluid and reliable, had earned it excellent notes on the Microsoft Store (4.6/5), often exceeding those of its direct competitor (noted only 3.9/5).
The announcement of the UNISSE judgment was made in a rather discreet way, mainly via a notification which appeared directly in the application itself and an update of its description on the Microsoft Store. Intel confirms the end of technical support for June 2025, also specifying that the application will be withdrawn from the download from July 1, 2025. Although it can continue to operate partially after this date on the devices where it is already installed, its various services will gradually become inoperative during the second half of 2025. The manufacturer HP also confirmed this information in its support documentation.
This decision to abandon Unison seems to be part of a broader economic context for the semiconductor giant. Intel has indeed carried out major restructuring and waves of layoffs during the past year, receiving several thousand employees. It is plausible that the team dedicated to the development and maintenance of Unison, from part from Screenovate, has been affected by these economy measures. Putting ENISH would thus allow Intel to refocus its resources on its main activities related to processors and other material components.
For current Intel Using users, this news implies the need to find a replacement solution by the summer of 2025. The most natural alternative is connected mobile. Initially less efficient with Apple products, it has since considerably improved its management of iPhones, in addition to its historical compatibility with Android. Microsoft continues to enrich its application, integrating it deeper into Windows 11 with functions such as the transfer of files simplified directly in the Start menu, it remains to hope that Microsoft continues in this way to further improve its tool and make exchanges between smartphones and PC as simple and natural as possible. .
