Insurance: the green sticker will disappear permanently from windshields this April 1

Insurance the green sticker will disappear permanently from windshields this

This April 1, 2024, the green sticker will disappear from windshields. Checks will be made from the license plate. And a new document will be sent to policyholders.

No more green sticker stuck to the windshield. After 40 years of existence, this April 1, the insurance sticker, printed more than 50 million times a year, disappears. The control will now be carried out using the numberplate entered in an “insured vehicle file” (FAV) updated in real time by insurers and consultable by both law enforcement and individuals.

The measure has two main advantages for insurers. First, it should make it possible to reduce fraud estimated, in 2022, at nearly 190 million euros thanks to more reliable controls on the FAV, explains TF1 info. Finally, the dematerialization of automobile contracts should represent a saving of 60 million euros per year for insurance.

Where to find your insurance information?

But do not panic. To inform motorists of their insurance details, necessary when filling out a report after a collision for example, or just to be certain that their contract is up to date, the sticker is replaced by the “insured vehicle memo” (MVA ). Sent in paper version and by email to the driver after signing a new contract, this memo has no expiry date, so there is no need to renew it each year.

It also constitutes “a presumption of insurance” for the vehicle for the first fifteen days of the contract taken out, it is therefore recommended to ensure that you always have it on hand, physically or electronically.
