Insurance, complaints increasing by 10.9% in 2023

(Finance) – In 2023 the insurance companies Italian and foreign companies operating in Italy have received from consumers 107,564 complaintswith a increase of 10.9% compared to 2022. The 45.3% of the complaints concerned the car insurance39.7% the other non-life classes and 15% the life classes.

They increase by 14.5% the complaints received from Italian companies (89,438), largely relating to the motor liability sector. Down 3.9% complaints against foreign companies (18,126), after the significant increase highlighted in 2022; for these companies, complaints in the Life and Other Non-Life sectors decreased, while they increased by 11.4% in the motor liability sector.

As for the outcome, about the 33% of complaints were upheld, 8% resulted in a transaction and 59% were rejected. The average response time was 22 daysbelow the regulatory threshold of 45 days.
