The risk of an acceleration of nuclear weapons racing equipment is now at its highest in the post-Cold War era, researchers at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said on Monday. The forecast is based on a report released by the institute on Monday.

In recent years, the number of nuclear weapons in the world has been declining slightly. Nine nuclear-weapon states in the United Kingdom, China, France, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, the United States and Russia had a total of 12,705 nuclear warheads this year. The number had dropped by 375 at the top of last year.

– Due to the war in Ukraine and Putin’s speeches, it is very difficult to make progress in reducing the number of nuclear weapons in the coming years, Korda says.
According to Korda, because of Putin’s worrying rhetoric, many other nuclear-weapon states are rethinking their own nuclear weapons strategies. According to the institute, many nuclear-weapon states such as China and the United Kingdom are formally or informally updating or increasing their nuclear arsenals.
Russia is still the world’s largest nuclear power
At the beginning of this year, Russia had 5,977 nuclear warheads. According to Sipri, 1,600 of the nuclear warheads will be ready for use immediately if necessary.
The United States, on the other hand, has 5,428 nuclear warheads since the beginning of this year. A total of ninety percent of the world’s nuclear weapons are located in Moscow and Washington.
Earlier this year, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States jointly issued a statement stating that nuclear war could not be won and should never be fought.
Despite this, all five countries continue to upgrade their nuclear arsenals, according to Sipr, and increase the importance of nuclear weapons in their military strategies.
